ReelScribe for macOS

By downloading, installing, or using ReelScribe (“the App”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.
ReelScribe is a macOS application that provides:
The App requires an internet connection for transcription and AI features. Basic video playback and local note-taking work offline. Cross-device sync runs through Apple iCloud and requires that you are signed in to iCloud on your devices.
ReelScribe does not have user accounts and does not require you to sign in to ReelScribe. You are identified only by a random per-installation identifier. Specifically:
You can stop using cloud features at any time by canceling your subscription through the App Store. You may request deletion of the installation-linked data we hold as described in the Privacy Policy.
You retain all rights to content you create or upload while using ReelScribe, including but not limited to:
We do not claim ownership of your content. Your content is processed solely to provide the services you requested (transcription and AI analysis); cross-device sync of your library is handled by Apple iCloud and is not accessible to us.
AI chat responses, highlight suggestions, and chapter analyses are generated by artificial intelligence and are provided “as is”. We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or usefulness of AI-generated content. You should independently verify any information provided by AI features.
You agree not to use ReelScribe to:
We strive to provide continuous availability but do not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the service with reasonable notice.
Scheduled maintenance will be performed with advance notice when possible. The App’s core local features (video playback, note-taking) remain available without internet.
Some features depend on third-party cloud and AI services, including Google Cloud Speech-to-Text and Google Vertex AI for transcription and AI, DigitalOcean for backend hosting, and Apple iCloud and the Apple App Store for sync and subscriptions. These services may change, become unavailable, or produce incomplete or inaccurate results. We may update integrations when needed to keep ReelScribe working reliably.
Our handling of your data is described in detail in our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. By using the App, you also agree to our Privacy Policy.
The App, including its original content, features, and functionality, is owned by ReelScribe and is protected by international copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.
Our trademarks and trade dress may not be used in connection with any product or service without prior written consent.
THE APP IS PROVIDED ON AN “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” BASIS WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
We do not warrant that:
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL REELSCRIBE OR ITS FOUNDERS, EMPLOYEES, OR AGENTS BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, USE, OR GOODWILL, ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR USE OF THE APP, REGARDLESS OF THE CAUSE OF ACTION OR THE THEORY OF LIABILITY, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless ReelScribe and its founders, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, costs, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising from your use of the App or violation of these Terms.
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the “Effective” date at the top of this page and, for significant changes, through a prominent notice in the App. Your continued use of the App after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
These Terms are governed by applicable law, without limiting any non-waivable consumer rights you may have in your country or region. If a dispute arises, please contact us first so we can try to resolve it informally. If we cannot resolve it informally, the dispute will be handled by a court or other forum with proper jurisdiction under applicable law.
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision shall be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary so that the remaining provisions remain in full force and effect.
These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and ReelScribe regarding the use of the App.
